Mallorcan Dining - Southeast

Our Top Picks for a Night Out from the Finca

The southeast of Mallorca is not the island's most famous corner, but it may well be its most rewarding when it comes to eating out. Forget the tourist menus and the beachfront traps. Out here, the restaurants are smaller, the cooking is more personal, and the evenings last longer.

Before you head out, one thing worth knowing: Mallorca runs on Spanish time. Lunch is traditionally the largest meal of the day, served from 2pm and often stretching well into the afternoon. Dinner is a late affair — 9pm is the local norm, and many restaurants only really hit their stride closer to 10pm. If you are eating earlier with young children, most places will accommodate you, but expect a quieter room. Tapas culture is also alive and well in the southeast, and several of the restaurants below lend themselves perfectly to ordering a spread of small plates and sharing everything — which is, by some distance, the most enjoyable way to eat in Spain.

These are the places we find ourselves returning to — some practically on the doorstep, others worth the short drive.

Bona Taula — Calonge

Bona Taula is the village restaurant that Mallorca regulars have been recommending for decades. The terrace sits beneath old trees with the centuries-old village church overhead, creating an atmosphere that cannot be staged — it simply exists. On the grill, suckling pig turns slowly until the skin crackles and the meat falls apart. Generous portions, fair prices and warm, friendly staff. Perfect for groups — ten people? No problem, everyone happy. Closed Tuesdays. Carrer Rafael Adrover 3, Calonge — 5 minutes from the finca

Zabthai Cuisine — Calonge

What happens when authentic Thai cooking meets Italian pasta? Zabthai has the answer — and it tastes surprisingly good. This small, warmly decorated restaurant in Calonge is one of the most unique on the entire island. The Thai red duck curry could easily feed two people, and the service comes with a genuine smile. Guests who have lived in Thailand for years confirm it: this is the real thing. Reservations strongly recommended in high season. Closed Sundays. Carrer Cala Llonga 10, Calonge — 5 minutes from the finca

Sa Farinera — S'Horta

Just around the corner lies one of the finest discoveries in the area. Sa Farinera is a true family gem — from the moment you walk in, it feels less like dining out and more like having dinner with old friends. The kitchen is traditionally Mallorcan, honest and prepared with love: the slow-cooked lamb shoulder is considered one of the best on the entire island, and the homemade Mahón cheese ice cream for dessert is simply unforgettable. The atmosphere grows warmer and more magical as the evening progresses. Closed Tuesdays. Sexta Vuelta 78, S'Horta — barely 1 km from the finca

Can Mel — Cas Concos

From the outside, Can Mel looks like a small village bar. Step around the corner and you find yourself in a buzzing, lovingly decorated restaurant with a beautiful courtyard and walled garden. The kitchen is surprisingly versatile — sushi alongside Mallorcan classics, everything fresh, everything made with passion. The prices are more than reasonable. Those who sit down tend to forget they only meant to pop in for a quick bite. Carrer Major 5, Cas Concos — 20 minutes from the finca

Es Molí — Santanyí

In the old heart of Santanyí, behind an unassuming facade, lies one of the most beautiful courtyards on the island. Es Molí is the kind of tapas restaurant you visit once — and return to every year after that. The small plates arrive fresh, aromatic and varied enough to keep you ordering and sharing all evening. Even in high season the atmosphere stays relaxed and almost intimate. The house mojito, known as the "Mint to be", has long since become a local legend. Reservations recommended. Carrer Consolació 19, Santanyí — 20 minutes from the finca

Restaurant Son Terrassa — Cas Concos

Son Terrassa sits on a hilltop surrounded by olive groves and old stone walls — and that setting makes every evening feel special. The sunset terrace is among the most beautiful on the island. The menu features a T-bone steak that regulars describe as the finest on Mallorca, alongside elegant starters such as beef carpaccio and duck and goat's cheese salad. The restaurant is also a small hotel — those who stay the night discover Mallorca at its quietest and most beautiful. Closed Mondays. Carretera Cas Concos — 20 minutes from the finca

Port Verd del Mar — Cala Bona

Once you have sat at Port Verd del Mar and looked out over the bay of Cala Bona, you immediately understand why this is one of the most visited restaurants on the east coast. The view alone is worth the drive — but the kitchen more than keeps up: fresh red mullet on tomato risotto, sea bream, sea bass, and a menu of the day that leaves nothing to be desired. Smart casual dress is recommended for the evenings — the mood is celebratory and the crowd knows it. Closed Tuesdays. Ronda de Sol Ixent 23, Son Servera — 40 minutes from the finca
